Every day, the amount of time we spend brushing our teeth clocks in at just over four minutes. Any Spring dentist would suggest you brush twice a day for at least two minutes, but studies show that many people don’t even brush the full recommended time! It is essential that we take the time to brush our teeth properly.

If you want to brush your teeth more efficiently, you’ll need to make your own brushing routine. Make sure you know these six brushing tips to get an improved result!

    • Take your time

While it is true that you should brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes, many people rush through the process. This can only cause more damage, which will force you to spend time cleaning your teeth later on. Make sure you are taking the time to brush properly, and you’ll notice a difference! You better don’t hurry!

    • Choose the right toothbrush

If you’re brushing your teeth, then you probably should be using a toothbrush. If you have sensitive teeth, then make sure you buy a toothpaste and toothbrush that is gentle on them. Be careful with the brush that you choose because there are some very bad brushes out there! It is always advised to use a soft bristle toothbrush. If your brush is hard, then you’ll hurt your gums or even break your teeth.

    • Watch your pressure

Pressure can be a crucial factor in your brushing success. You should never use too much pressure, and you should always avoid using more than one brush stroke at a time. This is another reason that you should brush your teeth properly every day!

    • Keep your brush dry

It’s crucial to keep your toothbrush dry while you’re brushing your teeth. If you leave it in water, it will lose its shape and become ineffective. Your brush should be kept at an angle so the bristles aren’t submerged in water. In fact, you can also hang it on a hook with the bristles pointed down instead of up or against the wall with the bristles pointing away from the wall.

    • Swap out your brush regularly

Brushes are designed to last at least two months, but they will become worn out much quicker than that. It’s a good idea to buy a new brush every 3-4 months. Some dental professionals will even tell you to throw away your old brush every month.
