Healthy eating habits can make a big difference in your overall well-being. Supplements, including vitamins, can help prevent colds and build strong bones. Many supplements can help relieve joint pain.

Talk to your doctor before you begin taking any supplement. Make sure that the dosage is correct and does not interfere with any prescription or over-the-counter medication. Too much of a good thing can be toxic to your body. As with all medications, only take the prescribed supplements.

These are key supplements that you might want to add to your health routine to alleviate joint pain.

    Vitamin C

Vitamin C has been shown to be effective in fighting winter colds. It is also an antioxidant that helps fight inflammation. Vitamin C acts as a cofactor in the production of collagen, which is the primary protein found in bone and joint tissue. Vitamin C can also be used to fight joint inflammation caused by infections. Vitamin C is recommended for people with compromised immune systems, especially those with rheumatoid arthritis.

    Vitamin D

Your body may let you know if you are lacking in a particular vitamin. Vitamin D is an example of this. If you don’t get enough, your body may cause pain in your joints. Vitamin D’s anti-inflammatory qualities help to relieve joint pain.

Vitamin D can also be used to manage certain autoimmune conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, arthritis rheumatoid, and Type 1 diabetes. Deficiency in vitamin D can cause bones to become weaker and more fragile, a condition called osteomalacia (in adults) and rickets (in children). Deficiency can also lead to osteoporosis, RA, and fractures.
